Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
Following a series of social media posts hints at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally revealed its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Space Key is a project that was created in collaboration with a non-disclosed artist and based on advanced carbon fiber composite materials, which were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a project that has been revealed by Lamborghini.
The product was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm).
Lamborghini, the Italian car manufacturer, is taking a first step towards the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new project - called the Space Key - is a piece of art made in collaboration with a lone artist. The unique NFT is a tangible item which connects to a unique digital artwork that can be accessed via a QR code that is located on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made of a carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part of a research project in 2019, sent to the International Space Station. When it returned to earth the carbon fiber was transformed into this distinctive artwork. The physical object is imprinted with an NFT serial number that ties to the corresponding digital artwork with QR codes on the back.
NFTs, for those who aren't familiar, are unique identifiers that are stored on an open ledger on the blockchain and linked to a digital asset like a photograph video, song, or any other kind of record. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and scarcity as well as trackability of their tokens over the internet.
Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to a new level by working with NFT PRO - a white label NFT solution for businesses. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will reveal details about this exciting venture. This will include the names of the artists who are unknown and a timetable for auction.

After a series of social media posts that tease some kind of space-themed item, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has entered the world of tokens that aren't fungible (NFT) with a unique project dubbed Space Key. Developed in collaboration with an unknown artist The NFT is a collectible item that will be auctioned off in just a couple of weeks. Its base is composed of a high-tech carbon fibre composite material, which was delivered to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. The carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the base of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital artwork via an QR code on the back of the key. Only five Space Keys were produced.
NFTs are unique identifications that can be stored in distributed ledgers, such as the Blockchain, and connected to digital assets like images. They're a hot topic for those with more money than sense, so it was only a matter time before an automaker decided to capitalize on the trend.
Space Key consists of five units and was built using a physical piece of carbon fiber composite which was delivered to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will be linked to an exclusive digital artwork by the same artist through a QR code printed on the backside of the carbon fiber piece. More details will be made available in the coming days and weeks, including the name of the artist as well as the digital artwork, and how to buy one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After several weeks of social media posts hinting at it, luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The Space Key is a collection of five physical objects that unlocks an exclusive digital artwork by an unidentified artist. The collectors' piece was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to five units. It will be auctioned off soon.
Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth the Space Key was made into an QR code that connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. More than 600 million pixels make each of the five images, which were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner used an inflatable camera with a lens to capture the individual images, which were later put together into the final image. The result is a truly out of this world image that captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there isn't a specific date or location as of yet.
The auction
Lamborghini, the luxury automaker has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT that has carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 to conduct research. The physical sample has been reshaped into five unique items that each link to exclusive digital artworks by an unidentified artist through the QR code on their backs.
The auctions, which will take place between February 1 and February 4, will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took for Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be purchased by signing up online. Each NFT will be auctioned off separately and the winner will be awarded an artwork created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments that the Space Key experienced during its space voyage.

Full details about the Space Key and its accompanying digital artworks will be released in the coming weeks, including the identity of the unidentified artist, as well as details on how to purchase these extraordinary creations. Follow Lamborghini on Instagram for all of the details you need!
